What is Canis Hippocampi?
As a zoologist, I am very familiar with the scientific naming of animals: Genus species. As such, I decided to name a species of my own creation in a similar way.
Canis is the genus that includes wolves, my favorite animal and inspiration for much of my work.
Hippocampi is based in the word ‘hippocampus’ which is both the genus name for seahorses, and a mythological creature from which Canis Hippocampi is based on. The hippocampus is also the name of a part of the brain that deals with memories and emotions. This is why it is such a fitting name as I draw my work from my experiences in life.
Combined together, a creature of wolf, horse, and fish is born. It serves as the representation of my creative journey.
